This online learning module is part of a series of short films and discussion guides released in partnership with Sheryl Sandberg's foundation, LeanIn.org, One reason I like this series is that the short length makes it easy to use the materials in workplace sessions, either as part of a learning program or for something more casual like a lunch 'n learn session.
A lot of the responsibility for addressing bias rests with organizations. Companies need to not only train managers but start rethinking and challenging practices like self-evaluation that magnify unconscious biases that all of us have.
However, this video also highlights actions each of us can take. For example, when you introduce a woman (or a minority or any out-group member), be sure to take a little time to highlight the person's credentials.
What insights do you have about how bias plays out in the workplace and what we can do to mitigate it? I'd love to hear your thoughts.
